I've seen a few questions on Twitter regarding the security that is used to store credentials. I spoke with Toshi and he's updated the extension's page to include some more info. Essentially the extension is using Chrome's localStorage which is only accessible to the extension itself and the Chrome developer tool. This is the same storage method that Chrome uses internally to save your credentials when you fill out a form. So if you trust Chrome to auto-fill your salesforce.com login credentials then this extension is doing basically the same thing but just making your life a little easier. It's up to you. Hope you find it useful.

Great Utility, will give a try soon.
ReplyDeleteVery useful tool for developers drowning in SFDC logins!
ReplyDeletegreat tool. Tab works fine, Windows button opens new windows but no login !!!
ReplyDeleteBenny, download the latest version of the extension. I found the same bug and Toshi fixed it.
ReplyDeleteI've DL the most recent version and the new windows option still does not work for me. Am I missing something? I imported my previous login data, could that be the culprit?
ReplyDeleteWard, I'll see if I can get Toshi to take a look.
ReplyDeleteIt has completely stopped working in the latest Chrome beta Mac (14.0.835.35 beta). I click on the icon and I get a window but no logins. The buttons do nothing. It works fine on my PC running Chrome stable so it's something with this Chrome version (which I have on 2 macs and it's broken on both). Jeff, could you let the developer know? Doesn't seem to be a way of reaching him other than leaving a review comment.
ReplyDeleteI'm having the same trouble as well. I can see the window check i click the extension button but no log-in information.
ReplyDeleteI'm running Chrome 14.0.835.35 beta-m on Windows 7
Cured! My chrome extension is back in business. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteNice extension but would really like to see the credentials encrypted and not in plain text in the localstorage file! I hope this is something planned for the next release. Thanks for your consideration.
